A new app was launched today that brings with it a slew of new smart calling features.  That app is called Sidecar.  Sidecar not only allows users to make phone calls to each other, it also allows them to:
  • See What I See Video: Sidecar users can share amazing real-time videos of what’s happening around them.
  • Photos: Sidecar users can snap brilliant pictures, or share photos from their phone’s library, instantly with other Sidecar users.
  • Locations: Sidecar lets users look at an interactive map, see where they are in relation to the person they’re calling, and share locations to meet up.
  • Contact Information: Sidecar lets users pass along and integrate contacts from their phone’s address book.
  • Whisper Text: Send a private text message to another Sidecar user during a call, and keep the conversation going when it’s hard to talk.

Sidecar users are able to place calls to non-Sidecar users free of charge.  At the end of the call, the non-Sidecar user will receive a text message inviting them to use the smart calling app.  The calls are made using either wifi or 3G/4G connection.  Sidecar is available free of charge in the App Store, for iPod Touch and iPhone owners.  The Sidecar app is also free for Android device owners, and can be downloaded in the Google Play Store.
